I Tried to Install Motorcycle Mods Myself… It Didn’t Go to Plan

After months of staring longingly out the window all winter, my new CRF300L (aka “Riley”) is finally here. Naturally, I thought it’d be a good idea to spend a sunny but freezing day fitting all the bare essentials: USB charging ports, a junction box, heated grips, and some potential footpeg upgrades.

What could possibly go wrong?

Turns out, quite a lot.

From misplaced tools to a broken connector, mystery fuses, and handlebars that refused to cooperate, this was a masterclass in trial and error. I’ll be the first to admit I’m not mechanically trained; I just figure it out as I go (or break something and cry a little). But that’s half the charm of DIY, right?

This video is a behind-the-scenes look at the chaos of setting up your adventure bike from scratch. Spoiler: I did not finish everything. However, I did learn a lot, and I’ll tackle each hurdle one busted grip at a time.
