Motorbiking in the hidden deep in the woods of Arran

The Isle of Arran has a strange way of keeping its best treasures just out of sight, waiting for the curious to stumble upon them. What began as a search for ancient dinosaur footprints turned into something far more unexpected: a tiny wooden hut hidden in the trees, filled with old books, scribbled letters, and personal messages from strangers.

This was the Library in the Woods.

It’s not on most maps. There’s no signpost. You can only reach it on foot, and even then, only if you know where to look. But what you’ll find inside is extraordinary. This isn’t just a makeshift shelter, it’s a time capsule. A space that feels like it belongs to everyone and no one. Some messages are sweet. Some are strange. And some will stop you in your tracks.

This was more than just a detour. It was a reminder that the most meaningful parts of any journey often aren’t planned at all. I didn’t just find the library, I found a small, unexpected moment of stillness that I won’t forget.
