Royal Enfield has gone electric. And no, this isn’t a drill. The legendary brand, known for its timeless design and thumping petrol engines, has unveiled The Flying Flea, a brand-new electric sub-brand that somehow feels both futuristic and straight out of the 1940s. Yes, Royal Enfield just made retro electric cool.

A New Era for Royal Enfield
EICMA 2025 brought a surprise from Royal Enfield: their first real move into electric motorcycles with the new Flying Flea. It’s a bold shift, but classic Enfields will still be rumbling down the road for a long while yet.
The Flying Flea is simply a new branch on the family tree, built for modern urban riders who want that same Royal Enfield soul, just with a cleaner, quieter heartbeat. And if the name rings a bell, it should.
The original Flying Flea was a 125cc two-stroke motorcycle from the 1940s, designed to be air-dropped by parachute during World War II. It was light, agile, and built for exploration. That same spirit of freedom and ingenuity is being reborn, this time, in a fully electric form.

Two Models, One Vision
The new Flying Flea brand launches with two models:
- C6, a classically styled roadster
- S6, a scrambler variant
The C6 is expected to hit the market first, with an anticipated arrival in spring 2026, targeting what Royal Enfield calls the “city+” space, urban riders who want the ability to break free beyond city limits.

Design: Retro Meets Space Age
Visually, the Flying Flea C6 is a masterpiece of retro-futurism. It merges vintage proportions with modern materials. The standout feature? A forged aluminium girder-style front fork, inspired by early 20th-century motorbikes but re-engineered for today’s tech and safety standards. It gives the bike a distinctive upright stance and an instantly recognisable face.
The frame is also made of forged aluminium, lightweight yet strong. At the same time, the magnesium battery casing doubles as an art piece, complete with fin-like details that serve both cooling and aesthetic purposes. Even the wing-shaped battery motif subtly nods to that “Flying Flea” legacy of lightness and freedom.

Technology Built from the Ground Up
Under the skin, Royal Enfield isn’t cutting corners. The Flying Flea’s electric platform is developed entirely in-house, from motor and battery management system to custom software and control units. Over 28 patents have been filed in the last six months alone.
This isn’t a rebadged e-bike or a joint venture. It’s a ground-up EV program built by Royal Enfield’s global engineering team of over 200 specialists, split between the UK and India.
At its core is a custom-built control unit that allows you to shape the bike’s personality. You can adjust how the throttle feels, how strong the regen is, and even how the brakes bite – from calm for the commute to lively for the weekend.

Engine & Pfromance
Royal Enfield hasn’t revealed the full technical specs just yet; details like battery capacity, range, and power output are still under wraps. However, we do know a few key facts.
The C6 will be the first to launch, arriving in early 2026 with a target price of under €7,000 (UK price to be confirmed, including 20% VAT). The S6 will follow later in the year, featuring the same electric platform but dressed in scrambler gear, including 19-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, USD forks, and switchable ABS. Both models utilise a finned magnesium battery enclosure to enhance cooling, a round touchscreen dashboard with full connectivity, and a custom control system developed entirely in-house.
Royal Enfield is aiming for something more accessible and characterful than a performance-obsessed bike, one that feels familiar to Enfield riders, even if it runs silently.

Modern Tech, Classic Feel
The Flying Flea lineup blends tradition with innovation. Expect features like:
- Lean-angle sensing ABS
- Cruise control
- Phone-as-a-key functionality
- Over-the-air software updates
- Round touchscreen dash, classic shape, cutting-edge interface
- It’s a mix that fits Royal Enfield’s DNA perfectly: modern where it matters, traditional where it counts.
- Performance and Practicality

Not Just Another Electric Bike
The Flying Flea isn’t trying to outgun superbikes or reinvent the wheel. Instead, it focuses on keeping the character that has always defined Royal Enfield: a simple, honest design with just enough emotion to make you want to ride every day.
Backed by significant investment in EV R&D, a dedicated Chennai factory, and a growing global engineering network, the Flying Flea is just the beginning. The C6 leads the way, with the S6 scrambler following soon after.

Final Thoughts
Seen up close at EICMA, the Flying Flea doesn’t come across as a concept or design study. It looks ready. The proportions feel right, the finish is solid, and the detailing shows real intent. It’s a proper Royal Enfield, familiar lines, modern execution, just one that happens to run silently.
