West Coast of Wales: Riding 500 miles for a milkshake

This blog post is about how I traveled from England to Wales by motorcycle. Riding through Wales is a great experience for those that want some adventure in their life. The trip took me through amazing countryside, townships, and even up winding mountains with breathtaking views. Along the way, I found myself in some very humorous situations as well as meeting a few friendly bikers along the way.

Day one – heading from England to Wales

I decided to head into Wales for some much-needed solo motorcycle camping – and well, to go in search of a milkshake and four donkeys. Setting off on Friday, I rode my motorcycle across the border into Machynlleth, Powys – located in Mid-Wales (south of Snowdonia). The campsite was located in a very rider-friendly location and had some very friendly campers as well.

The next day, I headed to the Wye Valley with its dramatic scenery and imposing rock faces. It was such an amazing ride through the countryside that not many people have seen! In fact, it was so beautiful here – even a little bit of rain didn’t dampen my

Day two – dealing with sun, rain, fog, and soggy socks

On Saturday morning, getting up early, I rode my motorbike all the way down the West Welsh coast riding through Aberystwyth following the Bae Ceredigion coastline. I had some time to take in the amazing views before heading off all way down to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, with its dramatic scenery and imposing rock faces. It was such an amazing ride through the countryside that not many people have seen! In fact, it was so beautiful here – even a little bit of rain didn’t dampen my spirits.

I eventually rode my motorcycle round to Swansea making my way to Llaeth Beynon Dairy to buy the Milkshake that I rode hundreds of miles for. I then ventured up to Brecon Beacons where I met Julia from GoodDayOut and her dinky donkeys – eventually riding back up to Machynlleth, Powys.

On the way back to the campsite, I found myself faced with the Welsh mountains and some very thick fog. Visibility was extremely poor and I struggled with my glasses constantly steaming up – luckily I made it back safe.

Day three – Snowdonia, Llandudno, and my comfy sofa

The following morning, I headed North through Snowdonia National Park. Snowdonia is a great place to ride your motorcycle. The roads themself are not very twisty, but the scenery is fantastic. I stopped off for a few photographs and a brew along the way.

I eventually headed even further North to Llandudno. I had a blast, as always. The weather was amazing and the view from the Great Orme was even better. However, nonetheless, I was exhausted from my travels and decided it was time to make my way back home.
